East Sicily hosts any sort of beach you can possibly imagine. Sandy beaches have very shallow waters: you need to walk for minutes before you can actually swim. Rocky beaches were created by ancient lava flows from Mt Etna reshaping the coastline: small bays are like natural swimming pools, also providing interesting sea bottoms to watch if you like snorkelling and diving
